With John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Roy Rogers, Randy Jones was listed among the top Pop Culture Cowboys by Entertainment Weekly in honor of National Cowboy Day July 26, 2008.

After he arrived in New York City and before Village People, he worked as a fashion model with friends Grace Jones, Jerry Hall, and Janice Dickinson.

Original Village People Cowboy Randy Jones appears standing in a life size photo billboard of the Village People's 1980 album "Live and Sleazy" cover in the final scene of "54" (1998) behind Ryan Phillippe and Neve Campbell.

After attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he attended the prestigious North Carolina School of the Arts where Tom Hulce, Mary Louise Parker, Jada Pinkett Smith, Gary Beach and Diedrich Bader also studied.

On September 12, 2008, American Music Award winner Randy Jones, as the original Cowboy in the recording group Village People was honored along with the original recording group Village People, by the installation of a Star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Star is located at 6529 between film star Betty Grable and music personality Liberace.

Original Village People Cowboy Randy Jones has the distinction of being the only Village Person to ever really live in New York City's Greenwich Village. He has maintained a residence there since 1975.

The Village People were awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 6529 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
