Adam James is an actor, writer, director, producer, and internationally renowned martial arts expert. Adam is a Screen Actors Guild member and had supporting roles in "Under Siege" with Steven Seagal and "Steal Big, Steal Little" with Andy Garcia. Recently, Adam has been cast as Dok Sauvage in the new streaming series Dok Sauvage: Man of Copper, which is inspired by the 1930s pulp fiction hero. Adam also played the lead role in the television pilot film "East of West" and the music video "Just a Woman" for the rock band Love and a .38.
Born in the New York City area, Adam moved to Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 9 and went to the prestigious Punahou school. Adam's uncles are Hal James, the Tony award winning Broadway producer of "Man of La Mancha" and a boxing television producer from New York and Bob James, the founder of Raymond James of Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida. Adam attended Northwestern University in Chicago, and studied Writing, Theater and Film, while playing Defensive End for the football team. Then Adam completed the Advanced Screen Writing certificate program at the University of Hawaii.
After moving from Hawaii to Los Angeles, Adam auditioned for "Under Siege" at Warner Brothers Studios and worked for the award winning director Andy Davis. Later, Andy Davis cast Adam in his film "Steal Big, Steal Little" and Adam performed with many top actors including Alan Arkin, Andy Garcia, Rachel Ticotin, Kevin McCarthy, David Ogden Stiers, Richard Bradford, and Joe Pantoliano. Adam has studied Method acting with Renee Harmon and Advanced Improv for Film with Tim Simek, and he also attended the Shakespeare Masters Class with Lynn Redgrave.
As a martial artist, Adam has been featured in numerous martial arts books and magazines including Black Belt, Masters Magazine, Journal of Asian Martial Arts, and FMA Informative; and he has worked as a martial arts consultant and fight choreographer for film. The Founder of Rainbow Warrior Martial Arts, Adam is a 10th Level Instructor from Grandmaster Leo Fong in the styles of Wei Kuen Do, Chi Fung and Modern Escrima. Adam is also a 5th Degree Black Belt in Kempo, Karate, Jujitsu, and Kobudo under Professor Michael Dela Vega. In addition, Adam is the former Director of World Black Belt, a martial arts media company founded by Chuck Norris, Bob Wall, Gene LeBell and 50 of the world's greatest martial artists. Adam is also the creator of the MMA Trainer certification program for the National College of Exercise Professionals, which has been endorsed by the Commissioner of MMA for the State of Hawaii, the US Vets, and the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
