William "Bill" Jackie was a silent screen actor who later became one of
Hollywood's top talent agents. Jackie founded, along with his wife,
former twenties actress Ruth Dwyer, the Ruth
Dwyer Agency. Working out of the Fairmont Hotel in Los Angeles, the
Ruth Dwyer Agency specialized in casting local residents to fill the
thousands of small bit roles Hollywood needed each year for the their
movie and television productions.
Jacky served as a captain with the US Army Corps of Engineers during the First World War and as a public information and morale officer with the US Coast Guard during the Second World War.
