On 3 August 2001, Iler and his two friends were indicted for the robbery of $40 from two Brazilian youths. On April 23, 2002, Iler pleaded guilty to the charges and received three years probation.

His character 'A.J. Soprano' (from The Sopranos (1999)) was ranked #10 in TV Guide's list of "TV's 10 Biggest Brats" (27 March 2005 issue).

In 2005, he lost 25 pounds on the Atkins diet, reducing his weight from 180 pounds to 155 pounds.

Though he starred in the Sopranos, has never watched a single episodes of it.
