In the 1990s, his mother, Mary Hughes wrote the screenplay for a film based on her Native American grandmother, Zuma Odell Chaney, titled "Five At Dawn". Kent Bateman was attached to direct the film. Miko was to appear at the beginning and end of the movie, listening to his great-grandfather tell him about 1900 in the year 2000. However, the film was never made.

(Why don't you mature?), often used in response when someone whines about something. A page for the meme was created on Facebook in Portuguese and gained over 300k likes in less than 24 hours. Hughes thanked the Brazilian fans for the meme in his social media accounts.

Hughes played the truck driver who accidentally runs over Gage Charnas in the music video for the song "Funeral Derangements" by American metalcore band Ice Nine Kills.
