Three jailed convicts, Himmat, his brother Ajit, and Dilawar Khan break out of prison and take over the household of Editor Ashok Rai. The convicts will continue to hold the family hostage until their associate, Kamini contacts them in person.

The movie is about an innocent Sharmila Tagore, who meets Sanjeev Kumar and they fall in love with each other. A twist in the story happens and he gets married to another girl (Yogeeta Bali). After a long time he meets Sharmila, who has changed and became a prostitute. And in time of crisis, she helps him.

A terminally ill man frames himself for murder to allow his family to collect the reward money. After a successful operation, he escapes police custody and searches for the real killer.

Kalyani lives in a small tenement with three sons, Vijay, Nandu, and Bhola, all of whom are unemployed, slackers and trouble-makers. One day Nandu gets into serious trouble with Shantilal, who summons the police, and has him arrested. Kalyani goes to the Police Station to plead with the In-Charge Officer to release Nandu, to no avail. She then goes to Shantilal to try to persuade him to withdraw the charges, also to no avail. Finally, she approaches Jagannath and tells him that Nandu is actually his biological son. After listening to her story, Jagannath believes her and accompanies her to the Police Station to bail Nandu out. The next day Jagannath comes to take Nandu to live with him in his palatial bungalow, and Deviyani, Vijay and Bhola bid him a tearful farewell. After settling down in his new surroundings, Nandu starts getting arrogant, and selfish, especially toward Vijay. Vijay and he break into fisticuffs, and Nandu warns Vijay not to set foot in his house. When Jagannath finds out, he tries to get Nandu to change his arrogant ways, to no avail. On the contrary Nandu threatens to kill him if he ever speaks in that tone of voice with him. The next night, Jaganath is shot dead. The police begin questioning everyone involved, and the obvious suspect is Nandu. It is then Deviyani tells Vijay and Bhola that Nandu is not really Jagannath's son, but her very own flesh and blood. Both Vijay and Bhola's world will never be the same after Deviyani tells them who the real son of Jaganath is, and who may have responsible for killing Jagannath.

Vijay struggles as a dockworker and eventually becomes a leading figure of the underworld, while his younger brother Ravi is an educated, upright policeman. This divide causes problems in their relationship.

Multi-millionaire businessman, Rakesh gets word from his servant, Ramdas that his father has been killed several years ago by a bandit named Poppy Singh and that Poppy Singh is still alive but is declared dead by the local police. Rakesh then swears to avenge his dad's death and this become the motive of his life; in order to locate Poppy's hide-out Rakesh travels to a mountainous region. He takes lodging in a house belonging to Thakur Ranjit Singh only to fall in love with his daughter, Durga; meanwhile Rakesh befriend an enemy of Poppy whose name is Shera. Through Shera Rakesh is able to locate Poppy's hide-out which is in an old mountain cave. Unfortunately before he could take action on Poppy Singh Shera is abducted by Poppy's men. Ironically Poppy's business has developed into cocaine over the years whereby Shera and all Poppy's hostages are forced to work as slaves. In order to rescue Shera and to avenge the death of his dad at an appropriate time Rakesh is forced to work for Poppy Singh by gaining his trust and by enlisting himself as a member of the gang.

Plain-clothes Inspector Dharam Dev is hot on the tracks of notorious underworld don, Durgaprasad, alias "D.P." But Durgraprased is not only elusive, but shrewd and cunning as well, and spreads of web of lies and deceit, and entraps Dharam in it, and a result of which Dharam himself becomes a suspect for murder, and is arrested.

Shankar destroys the evidence that links Raja to this murder, thus losing his job, facing criminal charges himself, and getting a jail sentence. When he comes out of jail, it is no longer the same Shankar - but one who is ready to join Raja as his criminal partner. But Raja is not the same petty criminal anymore - he has joined forces with international gangs of smugglers and may not quite be receptive to Shankar's request to join his gang. Shankar will now have to prove himself worthy of joining this gang - and for this he may have to sacrifice all virtues that he has learned to live with since his childhood.

Angered at this, Khaleel sets out to kill Krishna. He attacks Abdullah, abducts Krishna and readies him for a sacrifice, that will get rid of any threat against him. Sushil Kumar, a police officer, is charged with the task of apprehending a gang of kidnappers, who only target women. However, doing so not only threatens his identity and life but also his family's.

Raju starts working for Thakur Pratap Singh, unaware that Thakur had once kidnapped his mother and sister many years earlier which caused their separation. Will Raju find out what Thakur did to his family? Will Dinanath find out his son is not what he thinks he is? And will Dinanath ever find his wife and daughter again?

Then he gets into a confrontation with Police Inspector Vijay Shukla, and ends up killing him. Police launch a manhunt and ultimately come to the conclusion that he was killed in a train accident. He does survive, and takes this opportunity to return home. He will be welcomed by a recently widowed Deepa, but will face the shock of finding out that he was not only responsible for her widowhood, but also had a hand in the abduction and subsequent trauma of his nephew, Munna.
