I watched this movie with my girlfriend at the cinema last night.
The movie is great! First of all, the film was based on the life of the famous singer Ace Lucas. However, although this is a film about Aca Lucas, it is actually not at the same time, because it is about completely different characters and modern times.
As we see in the movie, the action takes place in modern times and not the 80s, 90s or early 2000s. We see modern betting shops, casinos, telephones, cars, laptops, clothes, the city, etc.. So to me this looks more like what it would be like in the present time when Peja Kovac, a young artist, was making his way, but he was given the spirit and life situations of Ace Lukas as avatar.
A lot of dynamics, sometimes at the top and sometimes at the bottom, and so several times throughout the film. It often goes from one extreme to the other. Just when he gets rid of some problems or people who are bothering him, some even deeper situations appear, from which he finds it increasingly difficult to get out. And with that, we also see how the personality of the actor deteriorates, how he matures, accepts the world of business into which he sinks deeper and deeper, being overtaken by vices.
The scenes are great as are the shots. Lately, Serbian domestic cinematography has been filming a lot of scenes: drugs, sex, crime, so the domestic audience has gotten a little used to those scenes. However, if this film had been released a couple of years earlier, it would certainly have had an even stronger effect among the audience.
