Bree Mills' "Pure Taboo" series generally takes a fast & loose approach to credibility with its heavy reliance on porn logic to drive its scenarios. This pair departs from that lazy model and actually attempts to involve the viewer, with mixed results.
Lengthy title vignette (which covers two separate XXX scenes) was written by its star Demi Sutra, and gives a strong portrayal of perceived racial prejudice stymying a modeling career.
She plays a beautiful Black model who is constantly being rejected, in favor of white beauties, at least by implication: the actual story and dialogue leave this implicit rather than overt.
More emphasis is later put on the concept of being yourself, as Demi finds success with fashion photographer Steve Holmes (his typical portrayal of a creep) after she appears with natural hair style and no makeup, after he earlier had summarily and nastily dismissed her in glamorous styling as wasting his time as an aspiring model.
Anny Aurora is quite effective as the blonde model who Demi idolizes and takes to bed in a solid lesbian scene. Vignette is well-done, suffering from lack of any punch in its unsatisfying open ending.
Supporting segment titled "Health, Wealth & Unhappiness" is an unconvincing thriller about a young guy (the late Jake Adams) who finds ample evidence that his lovely mail-order bride (Izzy Lush) is trying to kill him to inherit his money.
Pure Taboo resident hack Fistopher Nolan's screenplay is way too obvious in planting the clues that raise Jake's suspicions. We're left with a hot sex scene and a surprise ending, but minimal suspense.
