Qua

Qua is a short animation with a story based on a Chinese legend going back to the far past when the planet had two suns. At nightfall the moon was actually hotter than then sun meaning people had to be inside a shelter to avoid being burnt to a crisp.

We see a man climbing a hill and throws some sand to the star extinguishing the fiery moon which drops further away and becomes the moon we now know of and allows human life to flourish.

The animators have tried to tell the plot without dialogue but they have not entirely succeeded as the animation is book-ended with narration.

It is still an interesting piece of animation especially as we see a blazing planet and we can feel the emotion when Qua fails to rescue his companion as they try to cross the hot desert before nightfall.
