It starts with two guys talking in prison. One is released. He hides out in a basement and awakes to find the building is full of people at a religious meeting. He pops up and acts like a god or magic being. He leaves dressed nicely all in black and finds a sword. This sword is not much more than a bread knife but he is thrilled. He finds another knife in a dead man's back. About six swordsmen appear and he defeats them.
My copy is a digital file that plays on a HDTV in 4:3 size and resolution like an old VHS tape. It seems to have been recorded from a television broadcast. The dialog is Chinese and there are no subtitles. There is no other version of this movie available anywhere. Prove me wrong, anyone.
I don't understand Chinese. By about 15 minutes in I could not figure out the story line. I have watched many movies of this genre without the dialog. More than half the time I can figure out what's going on but not this time. Typically I would not post a review with so little to say but since it's the only review here it's better than nothing.
This is supposed to be an action comedy. There was plenty of smiling but I didn't get the gags. The fighting is minimal and typical of the year in quality. There is a final fight but it is short. I can only compare it to the many other simply average movies of the year and genre.
