No liberties were taken when it comes to the story, it's a case is what you see is what you get ie: this being an autobiographical movie of how the band came together and no added for embellishment scenes were added. Most of the band's friends played the parts of people that actually did the things you see in the movie.

At the start of the scene where Mike is having breakfast with Chris, the level of milk in the milk bottle is just over half full, but in the next shot when Mike pours the milk into his cereal, suddenly the milk bottle is close to being full.

Interesting, engaging semi-autobiographical film

This is a decent film. By no means an BAFTA winner, but it's a great piece of work retelling the story of Madness' formation. There's a few instances of some shoddy acting, but what would you expect? Also something interesting to note is that a lot of the diegetic background music is songs that the band (at the time the film is set) would then go on to write and release on albums. Overall a good, engaging, enjoyable film, that may or may not be everyone's cup of tea- but as the title itself says, you can feel free to Take It Or Leave It.
