If bending another actor standing into a 90 angle in a studio space and then giving him a kick in his bum - without a reason nor dialog - is considered being funny and that being the punch, then this must be funny.
On the other hand, this was the least embarassing efforts the creators did before later attemps to amuse the audience and for way too many years.
