L'étincelle

This movie was peddled as a soft-porn movie, with the leading lady riding high on the success of her previous movie - The Gift. But watching this made for a very nice and warm viewing experience, being about the love story of an older man and a younger woman (May-December romance), with some cliché-ridden complications thrown in. Bit soap opera-esquire, on reflection, but worked for me when I watched it.

Clio Goldsmith was one of the most beautiful women working in movies at the time, and could carry the role off without working on acting much (in my opinion, but was probably hard to actually 'do' it, am sure). Bit disappointed to note that her body of work isn't as much as I would have liked it to be, but I would watch this again, for her.

In addition, the leading man playing the character of the restaurant owner Maurice, performed his role with grace and élan, and in spite of being overweight and old, could carry off the role that required the beautiful Clio to fall for his charm and winning qualities, delving beneath the shallow exterior of looks.
