Mundo depravados (1967)
** (out of 4)
A masked maniac is murdering women so a couple dimwitted detectives team up with a stripper named Tango (Tempest Storm) and try to find the person doing the crimes.
This film runs a very slow and very drawn out 77-minutes but outside of the pacing issues there are some interesting things to be had here. As you'd guess if you're a fan of Something Weird Video, this movie isn't a masterpiece but there are enough interesting things going on that make it worth viewing. I will say that for a film made this late in the game, shooting it in B&W actually helps because it adds a bit of atmosphere.
The mystery of who the murderer is isn't too hard to figure out but the setting of the burlesque house is a nice touch and the addition of Storm is what will make most people want to check this out. She was a well-known name back in her time and even though this film came towards the end of her career, she's still easy on the eyes even though her performance leads a lot to be desired. Another strange thing are how dumb and weird the two detectives are. The film was obviously aimed at the rain coat crowd as there's quite a bit of nudity, which of course would be its main drawing power.
