During the Easter holidays of 1967 , three friends lured by the sexual myth of the Costa del Sol and the illusion of freedom go on a trip to Torremolinos. All of them single and in their early 20s . In the vacations of Holy Week Miguel: José Manuel Gorospe finds himself involved in a drug affair with the drug dealer Mr. Marshall, Juan : Gonzalo Cañas meets an older foreigner Katy : Maria Martin who gives a wonderful party with full of offbeat, quirky people and Luis : Andrés Resino falls in love with Marta : Cristina Galbó , also from Madrid. New to this sunny environment they discover the goings-on behind the facade of luxury and splendor. Along the way , they have fun and fall in love with foreign girls . But in the vacation , nothing will be as they expected.
Agreeable film concerting holydays in the magic Torremolinos , where supposedly to take place a sympathetic and entertaining film about intimate romances and diversion . The plot is plain and simple , a trio of friends arrive in Torremolinos, Spain , to flirt , drink and partying . However , in Días de viejo color(1968) find us a sad drama with interest enough , a simplicity in its narrative, happening few incidents without the due attractiveness . It was intended to be a generational comedy of nights and constant drunkenness , turning into a romantic drama about a pair of young lovers. The film avoids placing the protagonists in greater events than their own personal problems . The environment, society, the church, do not influence the decisions nor do they transmit . The obvious budget limitations try to avoid the inevitable, that the environment that surrounds these characters bears little resemblance to the one photographed in which almost nothing happens as in most movies at the time . A slow but interesting script written by the considered to be one of the best writers/directors of Spanish cinema , Antonio Gimenez Rico, well made at his film debut. Here stands out the appearance of a young Luis Eduardo Aute who sings several songs in French , the presence of the singer Massiel, the musical group Los Brincos , the famous painter Viola painting a picture and Luis Garcia Berlanga playing as an American drug dealer called Mr. Marshall , paying tribute to his film Welcome Mr . Marshall . Being the first Spanish film in which a girl and a boy meet and kiss and as the most natural thing in the world they get into bed and make love several times.
It displays a colorful cinematography by Manuel Rojas , shot on various locations in Aranjuez, Madrid, Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Marbella, Málaga, Andalucía, Spain . As well as evocative musical score by Carmelo Bernaola , including catchings songs such as : Días de viejo color written & performed by , Los burgueses written & performed by Luis Eduardo Aute ; Nocturno written by José Luis de Pablo ,performed by Los Relámpagos ; El baile del bufón written by Ignacio Sánchez Campins , performed by Los Relámpagos ; Carmen composed by Georges Bizet While his second picture El Bosque Del Lobo 1970 was competently directed by Pedro Olea , at his best . Being Winner : National Syndicate of Spectacle, Spain 1967 , Prize of the National Syndicate of Spectacle Best Music : Carmelo A. Bernaola . After that , for six years , Pedro Olea dedicated in advertising and documentary as "Guernica" , "River of Bilbao" and TV series as "Cuentos y Leyendas" and other about Basque themes . With "Un Hombre llamado Flor de Otoño" , Pedro Olea returns to shoot , thanks to subsidy of the Basque government . Subsequently , he made a trilogy about Madrid : "Tormento", "Pim Pam Pum Fuego" and "La Corea" . But his biggest hit were "A Man Called Flor de Otoño" with Jose Sacristan and "Fencing Master" or El Maestro de Esgrima with Asumpta Serna . He also directed "Bandera Negra" about gun smuggling and a military thriller : " Morirás in Chafarinas" . And Olea made two movies dealing with witchery : " La Leyenda del Cura de Bargota" and " Akelarre" and ¨La Conspiración¨, while "El Bosque del Lobo" 1970 is considered to be one of the best films in his prestigious career and ¨Dias del viejo color¨a good debut .
