- QuizWilliam Christopher contracted an almost fatal case of hepatitis at the start of the fifth season, resulting in his having to miss several episodes. As a result, producers were planning to write Father Mulcahy out of the show. However, Alan Alda pushed to keep him on the series, knowing how dependent Christopher was on needing steady work to help raise his autistic son. Alda went as far as writing an episode to incorporate Christopher's real-life illness into Mulcahy, helping to convince producers to keep him on the show.
- BlooperThroughout the series, Douglas MacArthur is referred to as though he is still in command of the UN forces in Korea. MacArthur was relieved of command by President Truman about ten months into the war: April 11, 1951 to be exact. However, the references are often due to MacArthur's influence in military strategy, and dates don't always line up in the series.
- Citazioni
Hawkeye: War isn't Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse.
Father Mulcahy: How do you figure, Hawkeye?
Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?
Father Mulcahy: Sinners, I believe.
Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is chock full of them - little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.
