A Fresh and Vibrant Production of an Absolute Classic.

Of all the versions of this play I have seen, this one finds every ounce of joy, humour and humanity in the script. Every aspect of the production seems perfect to me, with exceptional casting, simple, yet beautiful, sets and costumes and some truly outstanding individual performances. Somehow, they have created a fresh and vibrant production that avoids the over-familiar and cliched tropes of so many other productions and keeps the drama and the comedy zipping along, punctuated by some poignant and moving moments, with Maria's contrition probably the most moving. The minor characters shine as much as the main protagonists. What an amazing version!
