Doris Singleton(1919-2012)

Originally, she was supposed to co-star on Here's Lucy (1968). Her character was supposed to be Harry Carter's (Gale Gordon) efficient morning secretary, who would stand in contrast to Lucy (Lucille Ball), his scatterbrained afternoon secretary. Her character was dropped after the first episode because it was decided to show more of Lucy's family life and less of her life on the job.

[on playing Caroline Appleby on Lucy ed io (1951)] She was sort of Lucy's nemesis because both had young sons they would brag about. There was a rivalry there, but she had to be nice, Lucy had to be nice to Caroline, because her husband owned the television station.
