Such a lovely little gem. A fine capsule of the essence of Finnishness. Leena Uotila is absolutely superb as the Mummo.
The movie has an atypical structure in many ways, but it lacks the pretentiousness of an art film. Each picture is meticulously crafted, each dialogue thoroughly authentic and satisfying. This is how Finns speak and behave: a documentary couldn't have captured it better.
If anyone anything, the film is a depiction of life. Not glamorous, not super exciting, not excessively dramatic - just as life isn't any of these things. A bit funny, a bit sad, a bit boring. Authentic and original.
