The film is a free interpretation of the rise and (especially) decline of the Dutch software company Baan, founded by brothers Jan and Paul Baan. The company ha a strict Christian background was located in Barneveld, in the Veluwe region, from about 1985 to 2000. After a listing on the American stock exchange had been applied for, it turned out that all sorts of financial matters had not been properly arranged; the initial success was based on quicksand. The company was saved from bankruptcy when it was bought by an English company.

The congregation sings a hymn hesitantly and rhythmically--a double error in such a strict religious church, songs are sung in full tones, so each tone is equally long and takes several counts. The congregation sings fully and powerfully, especially if it is a jubilee song or psalm of battle. Not surprisingly, the faithful have known these psalms from childhood. Doubts about the text and pitch are unthinkable.

Brilliant movie

A brilliant movie based on a true story with some fiction to get a great movie! Brilliant acting! The true story-part of this movie is of course the fall of the brothers Baan with their company Baan (in the movie the brothers Van Der Laan). For years the stock Baan was one of the great moneymakers and the two deeply religious brothers were even capable of reaching the Nasdaq. Kees Prins, Pierre Bokma, Monique Hendrickx and many others are very convincing in playing a strict religious family in the town Putten on the Veluwe. The fictional parts of this movie are as touching as a good movie should be! This movie is an absolute must for fans of European movies.
