One of I.T.V.'s most popular comedy shows in the '70's was 'Who Do You Do?', a collection of quick fire sketches performed by top impressionists of the day such as Freddie Starr, Peter Goodwright and Janet Brown. Never one to waste a hit format, L.W.T. revived it a decade later as 'Copy Cats'. Boasting a mostly new cast ( excepting Aiden J.Harvey and Johnny More ), 'Copy Cats' was a lot of fun, this being the '80's the comedic targets included 'Dallas' ( Allan Stewart made a terrific Sue-Ellen ), 'Entertainment U.S.A.' and the then-new soap 'Eastenders'. Andrew O'Connor could do a blinding Rik Mayall, thus enabling the show to take a swipe at 'alternative comedy'. The line-up changed from series to series, but the formula essentially was the same. Best of the new intake in the second year was Hilary O'Neil, whose Margaret Thatcher and Sybil Fawlty impressions were simply stunning. 'Copy Cats' was hardly earth-shattering stuff, but it made perfect Saturday night viewing. How about giving it another go, I.T.V.?
