The show was a parody of Charlie's Angels (1976). The Teen Angels, Brenda, Taffy and Dee Dee were clearly inspired by Josie, Melody and Valerie from an earlier Hanna Barbera series, Josie and the Pussycats (1970), HB having lost the rights to those characters. The character design of Captain Caveman himself had already been used for the Slag Brothers in yet another Hanna Barbera cartoon, Wacky Races (1968). The story structure and character dynamics are reworkings of Scooby Doo, Where Are You! (1969) and its revivals.

#17. RA and Captain CAVEMAN

This show was as if Hanna Barbera decided to mix their most successful creations: Flintstones and Scooby-Doo. A caveman solving crimes!

Even though the art feels a bit rushed, the stories are really satisfying and fun. And that yell is awesome!

All in all, a solid show that could have lasted longer.
