- ट्रिवियाIn the Biatorbágy scene of the film, it was cheaper to blow up a real train than a model. As the viaduct had been out of operation for 5 years (during the renovation of the Budapest - Hegyeshalom - Rajka railway line, a new route was created, which avoided the viaduct), which is why the rails were rebuilt for the sake of the film, and a small bend was built in the middle to the train should crash without detonation. The protagonist's steam locomotive 324, 1512, was scrapped on May 17, 1982. It was then slightly modified to resemble a Type 301 steam locomotive that had been the victim of an assassination, and then No. 221. A steering wheel company delivered it to the site in a trailer. The recording took place on June 2, 1982 at 9:29 p.m. On the slightly sloping track, a train of locomotives and two wagons was pushed by a pusher from behind and then pulled to the bridge by a winch, so it fell from the curved rails into the deep near the bridge head. It would have been dangerous to heat the steam locomotive, so the pyrotechnicians made smoke and steam in the locomotive. The wreckage was then placed with a crane in its original condition based on contemporary photographs, so recordings were made of rescuing the dead and wounded.

I watched this on videotape, but it is out on DVD both by itself and in one or two cheap DVD sets from Platinum and/or Brentwood.
I didn't find it very involving. It would have helped a little bit if it were in Hungarian with English subtitles, but unfortunately it was dubbed. It was also full-screen, and I suspect it looked a lot better in widescreen given that it deals with wide things like trains, and bridges and so on; the color was nice.
I think a documentary about the real-life subject of this film would have been more interesting. Oh well.
As the English title The Train Killer suggests, the subject is a man who compulsively derails trains by various methods. Why he does so is not clear. There are a couple brief sex scenes which do feature some nudity.
