This is an entertaining as well as hilarious Chorizo Western that packs stirring adventures , shootouts , brawls , chases , vengeance , treason and being pretty amusing . Tortilla/Ravioli Western starred by regular actors and a plethora of familiar faces in the support cast . It deals with a duo of roguish robbers called Shoshena (Anthony Steffen) and Jaguar or Fuzzy (Roberto Camardiel who bears the comical relief) who carry out a bank robbing . Meanwhile , a powerful land baron called Coogan (Eduardo Fajardo) , supported by a corrupt sheriff (John Bartha) , buys mortgages to ruin the poor farmers . After that , Shoshena and Jaguar save a beautiful girl (Maria Elena Arpón) and her father from some nasty hoodlums . Later on , the farmers going to bankrupt have abundant debt to the ominous owner execute a rebellion against the ominous tyrant and his henchmen . Soon after , there appear the five feared Sansom Brothers and Shoshena and Jaguar are hired by Coogan to protect him . But both of whom doublé-cross him and they rob the cash from his safe deposit box .
This forgotten S.W. packs thrills , action , humor , lots of shots and gunplay . Tortilla/Spaghetti Western realized in traditional as well as comic style , including entertainment and amusement . A so-so co-production filmed in Spain , full of familiar faces , assaults , robbing , exaggerated characters , gun-down , loads of action and fights . All in all , this film is predominantly a Spanish film rather than an Italian one . It's a two country co-production but is clearly dominated by the Spanish contingent and the traditional leanings of the Italian producers of the time have their stamp on the entire proceedings . The Spanish westerns of this era were far more likely to try and emulate their American source material than cultivate a distinctive style of their own the way the Italians were doing but their product , though this "Tequila" also titled ¨Fuzzy the hero¨ has penchant for hilarious happenings , as if you like comical westerns remains lightly watchable . There is plenty of action and humor with tongue firmly in cheek , guaranteeing shoot'em up , riding pursuits , fighting or stunts every few minutes . It's an exciting SW with breathtaking showdown between the protagonists Steffen/Camardiel and the enemy led by Eduardo Fajardo and his hoodlums , including a thrilling ending when happens shootouts , surprises and double-crosses . Worthwhile watching for a demonstration of the sympathy and enjoyable relationship between the main characters : Anthony Steffen and Roberto Camardiel ; both of them would go on to play similar roles . The picture is well starred by Anthony Steffen-Antonio De Teffe- , he plays his typical role , here called Shoshena ; Steffen began playing secondary roles into typical examples of popular Italian films of the late 50s as sword and sandal epics , comedies, adventures and was with spaghetti westerns that renamed achieved worldwide stardom . His acting is often accused of being wooden , but in many manners is ideally suited to playing the steely-faced gunslinger synonymous with the genre . His others successes include well liked features as ¨Seven Dollars to Kill¨ , ¨The last Mohican¨, ¨Train for Durango¨, ¨Gentleman Jo¨ , ¨Four dollars for Django¨, ¨Shango¨, ¨Arizona colt¨, ¨Apocalypse Joe¨ and several others . However , Roberto Camardiel steals the spectacle as a likable , rogue bandit , being magnificently interpreted by this veteran Spanish secondary actor . In addition , there appears usual secondaries of Spanish/Italian Western , including customary actors such as : Maria Elena Arpón , John Bartha , Mirko Ellis , Juan Amigo , Fabián Conde , and the sex-symbol Agata Lys as Coogan's sex-hungry wife . There are many fine technicians and nice assistant direction and excellent production design by two prestigious designers : José Luis Galicia and Jaime Pérez Cubero ; both of whom create a magnificent scenario on the villages , ranch , and barren outdoors , rocky mountains , dirty landscapes under a glimmer sun and fine sets filmed in Manzanares Del Real , Colmenar Viejo and La Pedriza , Madrid . Evocative cinematography by Guglielmo Mancori , showing marvelously the habitual Manzanares Del Real and Pedriza outdoors , but no Almeria . The musician Coriolano Gori composes a vivid Spaghetti soundtrack and well conducted , including a jolly leitmotif ; it's full of fun sounds and lively as well as comical score . Definitely a worthy topic but, well done correctly interpreted and euro-western of the final period which, although far from the postulates Leonianos .
The Argentinian , nationalized Spanish writer/filmmaker Tulio Demicheli directed this funny Western ; so he consistently mixed the good with the mediocre that it became quite impossible to know what to expect from him next . He directed Gazpacho Western as ¨Tequila¨, ¨Arriba Sabata¨ and ¨Man and a colt ¨ . Demicheli had a long , prolific career , working from the 40s , he directed all kind of genres as drama as ¨Herida Luminosa¨ , Thriller as ¨Ricco¨ , adventures as ¨Son of Captain Blood¨, ¨First adventure¨ , Spy sub-genre as ¨¨Il Nostro Agente a Casablanca¨, ¨Dirty game in Panama¨ , ¨Misión Lisboa¨ , Giallo as ¨Coartada en Disco Rojo or Two faces or fear¨ , Horror as ¨Monstruos De Terror or Assignment Terror" , among others .
