Catching up with the entire oeuvre of Ray Dennis Steckler is a bit of a chore, but SEX RINK is a painless example of his hardcore abilities. Though ultimately too repetitive, it delivers the wall-to-wall sex goods.
The novelty of sex performers on roller skates with nifty tube socks has a certain charm -in fact Alpha Blue Archives uses excerpts as its wraparound footage to intro most of its videos. Ray was careful in the lighting and technique to make for attractive footage.
Film is MOS with rather smarmy femme narration treating the sex-at-the-skating rink as a high school event (narrator supposedly is a teacher). Nothing much happens, and the level of seriousness is indicated by Rhonda Jo Petty guesting as herself, a "guidance counselor". Mike Ranger is typically the best male performer, earning himself a return ticket to Stecklerworld as star of the companion film PLATO'S RETREAT WEST. Steckler does unveil a very impressive female performer playing Jackie (I don't know her acting moniker) who is his hardcore answer to Doris Wishman's discovery, Chesty Morgan. I enjoyed watching her take a shower and join in the b.j. action, and am surprised no one's tracked her career.
Taken together, these two Steckler skating porn films do capture the absurd hedonism of this particular era, when disco was in flower. I managed to live through the period avoiding not only the drug-taking phase but also the horrendous music -thank god for jazz.
