ANGEL WITH THE IRON FISTS is a sub-Bond adventure from Shaw, directed by Lo Wei and only slightly better than his turgid melodrama of the same year, MADAME SLENDER PLUM. This one stars Lily Ho as a secret agent called in to go undercover in a secret organisation known as the Dark Angels. The problem with this is the running time, which is at least half an hour too long, which means it takes over an hour for the actual main storyline to kick into gear. The plotting is slow and turgid and Wei seems disinterested in the material. The action is more fun, featuring small roles for later Shaw regulars like Ku Feng, Cheung Lei, Fan Mei Sheng, Wu Ma and Jocky Cheung and a lively escape-the-villains'-lair climax.
