Khloe K was the only Kardashian that I could relate to. She seemed less robotic than her other siblings and I always enjoyed her no nonsense attitude. I watched this on whim; I enjoy most weight loss shows like: The Biggest Loser, and MTV's I Used to be Fat. Immediately I realized this how promotes weight loss for the worst reason imaginable-other people's approval. Weight loss and transforming a lifestyle takes commitment and it's a journey we take on our own. While we may have mentors along the way, the results and the effort is very much our own. Revenge Body (RB) sends the message, almost immediately, that you should transform yourself as a big F U to anyone who has wronged you. Again, seeking other people's approval is not healthy. RB seemed like a choppy program and sloppily put together. Clearly, Ms. Kardashian capitalized on her new body image with this show. This is NOT a relatable program. Firstly, Ms. Kardashian has enough money to hire personal trainers to train her every day and a chef to cook her meals every day. This is not feasible for the typical American who wants to lose weight. Moreover, the show doesn't even touch upon how the contestants fully change their lifestyles. Secondly, Khloe looks great, no denying that, but it's hard as a viewer to look at her seriously knowing how she feels about body augmentation and plastic surgery. What is real, what isn't? These are pertinent questions that need to be answered if you want to be taken seriously and have credibility with your audience. This show seemed vapid and shallow. At the beginning of the show we see a team of beauty stylists pampering Khloe before she meets her contestants. I was extremely bothered by this because we have these clearly self-conscious individuals waiting to meet Khloe. From the episode I watched, it didn't seem like these contestants had any prepping or makeup/wardrobe before meeting Khloe K. It made Khloe seem like a beautiful goddess next to peasants, which is again unnecessary and not relatable. The show managed to exhibit product placement for the other Kardashian family members: Kendall and Kylie Swimsuits, and Kylie Cosmetics. All in all, this show is a clear attempt for Khloe to market her new body image to her fan base. After all, these family members are best at selling themselves.
