I chose Tripling a web series on Zee5 (orig. Hindi w/Eng.subs) at random.
Season 1 is about three siblings who meet after a long time and end up on a road trip together to their parental home in Manali. Sumit Vyas is the elder brother Chandan/Baba, an NRI recent divorcee just come back to India. His younger brother Chitwan (Amol Parasher) is a DJ, exuberant, punkish and somewhat wild. They end up driving to Jodhpur to meet their sister Chanchal (Maanvi Gagroo) who is married into a royal family. They arrive just as her Godhbarai function is about to start. But Chanchal has lied to her husband Pravin (Kunal R Kapoor) and inlaws due to the extreme pressure to produce a child. She isn't pregnant. After a tiff with Pravin, the three take off in a huff on their way to Manali. The narration continues with some adventures enroute and of course beautiful scenery covering Rajasthan and Himachal. The somewhat Bohemian parents (Kumud Mishra & Shernaz Patel) live in a beautiful property which is also a home stay where their foreign guests end up becoming everyones friends. Season 1 ends on a feel good happy note.
Season 1 is engaging with humorous and human moments.
So I looked forward to Season 2.
Season 2 starts in Delhi. Chitwan has a wealthy lawyer live in partner Sheetal (Kubra Sait) whose baby (from her previous relationship) Cheetah he adores and looks after with much pride and care as his own child. Chandan is a successful author of a block buster book Tripling based on their road trip of S1, which is being made into a movie. But it creates problems for Pravin and a rift between him and Chanchal. The brothers drive to Chanchal's palace. Chanchal is now an MLA. Pravin suddenly disappears, the sister in law accuses Chanchal of murdering him, the police are in pursuit, and the trio again push off on another road trip to somehow find Pravin and clear Chanchal's name. Their hunt takes them via good glimpses of old Lucknow and Kolkata to Sikkim and an ultimately good ending with the film becoming a super commercial hit and the director keen to make a sequel from the S2 trip!
However S2 is quite a let down, mediocre content, quite ridiculous and fast forwardable in many frames, nowhere nearly as engaging as S1. Its a pity that S2 wasn't crafted as nicely as S1.
Watchable and fast forwardable in the stupid mediocre parts.
