Crummels and DeFarge's gimmick is inspired by the works of
Charles Dickens, as "Crummels" was the name of a family in "Nicholas Nickleby," and "DeFarge" comes from Madame DeFarge from "A Tale of Two Cities." Their finishing move is called Great Expectations, and they also have a move called "Oliver Twist." They are also notably unhygienic, tending to wipe their noses on whatever is convenient. While CHIKARA's website says that Crummels is from Chagrin Falls, OH and DeFarge is from Shaker Heights, OH, they have been billed from "Anywhere They Hang Their Hats.".
