On 10th Aug. 2000, after a night out with friends and colleagues in Manhattan, the successful Swedish commercial and music video director
Johan Camitz was hit by a car and died at St. Vincents Hospital Medical Center several hours later. The freakish accident made worldwide headlines since the man behind the wheel, Ivory Davis, had died from a gunshot wound (resulting from a drug related shooting) while driving the car that killed Camitz. The tragedy occurred as Camitz was crossing the street on his way to his apartment in Soho. Camitz was regarded as a rising star of his profession and had won many awards for his popular commercials and music videos.
