Back when he was in "3rd Rock from the Sun" and '10 Things I Hate About You,' Joseph Gordon-Levitt yearned to test his dramatic chops with a Sundance film. When the opportunity came in the form of 2001's 'Manic' with Zooey Deschanel and Don Cheadle, the young star embraced the challenge. Although the early digital film didn't get much attention at the Sundance Film Festival (unlike his 2023 festival favorite, John Carney's 'Flora and Son'), Lyle in 'Manic' is the role that forever changed Gordon-Levitt's life.
