The highly lyrical nature of his poetry has inspired many musical
tributes in particular. He is eulogized in the Clash song "Spanish
Bombs" (from the album "London Calling") and the Pogues song "Lorca's
Novena" (from "Hell's Ditch). Canadian singer/songwriter
Leonard Cohen translated one of García Lorca's poems as
"Take This Waltz" (from "I'm Your Man") and also named his second child, a daughter
Lorca, after him. In 2003 composer
Osvaldo Golijov and playwright
David Henry Hwang collaborated on a successful opera,
"Ainadamar", about García Lorca's last days.
