Shabnam was spotted by Harindernath Chattopadhyaya. He saw her thru the window of an office. He promptly introduced her to Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He in turn introduced her to Hemant Kumar who was in search of a new actress. He launched her in Faraar (1965).
