He acted in Matthew Gregory "Monk" Lewis's play, "The Castle Spectre," at the Players' Theatre in London, England with Edmund Willard, Milton Rosmer, Don Gemmell, Mary Laura Wood, Mary Hallatt, and Prudence Rennick in the cast. Harold Scott was director.
Character actor, first on stage in Liverpool repertory theatre; later also as writer/director. After wartime service, appeared in films; briefly in romantic leads, but later relegated to playing exasperated buffoons or being comic foil in "Carry On" comedies.
