Bob Melvin was beloved by his family and regularly attended Sunday dinner at his mother-in-law & father-in-law's (Everett and Ada Smyser) where there would be approximately 30 family members and a frequent flow of local townsfolk who would wander in.
He was well loved by all the children for the funny stories he told and he was known by the countless children in attendance for always sneaking them butterscotch hard candies before dinner.
