In 1967, she starred in an unsold sitcom pilot for ABC called "The Medicine Man." The plot revolved around the misadventures of a group of interns at an ordinary city hospital.
Lewis spent thirty-five years in show business, starting as a singer with Kay Kyser and 'Herbie Kay'. A student of the Pasadena Playhouse, she was put under contract to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1940, where she often played Froggie's Mother, without screen credit, in the Our Gang series, as well as small roles (also without screen credit) in MGM features.
