Like many of her generation during the waning days of colonial Hong Kong
during the 1980-'90s, the veteran actress Wang Lai emigrated to Canada
where she holds a transpacific residency between Hong Kong and Canada.
This enabled young stateside based director Ang Lee to recruit her to act in his debut directorial effort 'Tui shou (1992)' aka 'Pushing Hands'.
