She acted in Anton Chekhov's play, "The Cherry Orchard," at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford, Surrey, England with Patrick Wymark, Marty Cruickshank, Stephanie Bidmead, James Cairncross, Hazel Hughes, Terry Scully, Michael Elphick, and Edward Atienza in the cast. Richard Cottrell was director.
Won an Oscar for playing Madame Hortense in Alexis Zorbas (1964), and 20 years later
won a Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role - Musical) for playing
the same role in the Broadway production of "Zorba" (1964 Oscar/1984
Tony).
