Vanakkam Chennai is proof that even the most predictable rom-com can feel fresh when it's sprinkled with charm, comedy, and a pinch of Tamil Nadu flavor. Shiva and Priya Anand play two strangers forced to share a flat due to a housing mix-up, and what follows is a rollercoaster of laughs, misunderstandings, and eventual romance. Spoiler alert: You know how it ends, but you won't mind getting there.
Shiva's impeccable comic timing is the movie's backbone, throwing in one-liners like they're free sambhar refills at a wedding. Priya Anand complements him perfectly with her blend of sass and sweetness. Meanwhile, Santhanam shows up occasionally to remind you why he's Tamil cinema's undisputed king of situational humor.
And then there's Anirudh Ravichander, who doesn't just deliver a soundtrack-he gives you a lifetime playlist. The BGM is pure magic, adding soul to every scene, whether it's a funny exchange or a heartfelt moment. "Ailasa Ailasa" is a certified earworm, and every other track is just chef's kiss. Honestly, if you don't leave this movie humming something, are you even alive?
The story might not be groundbreaking, but Vanakkam Chennai is like a warm cup of filter coffee on a rainy day: comforting, familiar, and absolutely delightful.
Giving 7/10. Come for the comedy, stay for the music, and leave with a goofy smile on your face. Also, Anirudh, we owe you one.
