With much hype and media build-up, a second sitcom to hit RTL Luxembourg television begins on Friday.
Produced by Lucil Film, the first episode of "Comeback" was screened to the press on Thursday at the Bouneweger Stuff where a lot of the series is shot.
The sitcom begins with three characters waking up with terrible hangovers thanks to a drunken night, gradually remembering the rather embarrassing antics they got up to the evening before.
Without revealing the entire story, the episode's two main male characters Pit and Jacques, place silly bets on each other until their friend Sophie comes up with the ultimate 'mad' guarantee - getting an old Luxembourg 80s singer, Ronny Riff, to participate in the 2013 Eurovision song contest. Of course the plot is a little more intricate with revenge playing a part in the storyline.
And so the foundations of the aptly named "Comeback" are laid.
The soundtracks used for the series add an extra interest to Comeback as the music used comes entirely from local musicians. This fits perfectly with the theme of the sitcom and of course helps the promotion and recognition of local music.
The sitcom seems well shot and flows along nicely, with many comedy moments, never seeming forced or staged.
Obviously the series is shot entirely in Luxembourgish, but is relatively easy to follow and light. Anyone learning the language should be able to grasp the basics of it and can even use the series as an entertaining language tool!
Comeback looks like a promising series with a music-based storyline of real interest and not a rather clichéd story of the "typical" life of a Luxembourg family, which Weemseesdet turned out to be for some critics.
The reception from the press once episode one of the Comeback screening ran the credits, seemed highly positive and the buzz around the Bouneweger Stuff clearly seemed to be in agreement on one thing: Comeback will do well on Luxembourg television.
