Commentaire à la une
Will Ryder, famous for his successful porn-parodies, departs from current trends with this self-consciously old-fashioned, even sentimental Adult movie that is enjoyable for us old fogeys who appreciate the story-driven form of porn.
It's a very, very familiar story (tried and true) of beauty September Reign going to Nashville to find fame and fortune as a singer-songwriter. Script quickly notes the rarity of Black successes in the country genre, but this busty young lady is not to be deterred.
Ryder's screenplay is overloaded with cliches about the underhanded, cut-throat types of the music industry. Will even emphasizes nearly Silent Era sentimentality in the character of Misty Stone as September's sister back home, who is ailing and needs an operation, but takes her last few dollars and travels to Nashville to save the day for sis September at the very last minute.
Most remarkable in 2022 is Ryder's insistence on tilting the balance over toward story/dialogue scenes rather than the current mandatory 30+ minute XXX scenes. He evidently never got the memo that bowdlerized versions of porn features (like Wicked and Adam & Eve used to make for Cable tv sales decades ago) are passe.
September's acting is weak -no doubt because her career has developed during the gonzo era. Given the movie's theme, the majority of characters are either venal or unhelpful, and even September is stuck with a very poor scene where she seduces record label magnate Rusty Nails in order to get ahead -way, way out of character in Ryder's otherwise functional script.
