Anecdotes
In an interview with VPRO Gids magazine, director Ben van der Meyden revealed that the episodes were shot with a single camera, recording a number of takes, also allowing for improvisation. These different takes were then creatively chopped up and edited together with fast jump cuts and 'stuttering' repetitions, deliberately breaking continuity. In this way, they sought to create a pleasantly chaotic, jagged and fresh visual language. This style was pioneered when their sketches were still part of the Villa Achterwerk (1984) children's TV series, from 1996-2006.
