Summer time render is one of those hidden anime gems that one doesn't find very often. The story while it has already been told before in other anime, it is certainly my favorite time travel anime one as of current. I'll get my gripes with the series out of the way first. My major overall gripe would be that Ushio becomes somewhat convienient for the plot towards the back half and I would've liked for the author to difine her and other shadow's powers more because they just kind of come out of nowhere and also the big baddie's motivatiuon was very cliche and would've like d more insight into him and his backstory. . But other than that this anime is fantastic. The plot is brilliant with this on edge antcipation that comes with each episode, even turining a simple hallway becomes eeire and the air fills with tension. While the chracters don't tread any new ground they are all very likeable, especially ushio and shinpei. Seeing their relationship develop further throughout the series was heartwarming and they genuinely have chemistry. Mio was a good character, would've liked to see more of her but otheriwse she was a good chracter. I thought the whole dynamic between hizuru and her brother was a cool flair to the trope of two personalities in one body. Sou was probably the weakest out of all of the cast, he didn't do much except for the finale but otherwise he was fine (I swear this is not a criticism it's just all of the other cast memebers are so good but I xan't spil in this review) . I think though what seals the deal for this anime is the emotional beats, it hits each one with a such suprising amount of accuracy it's hard not to admire. The series finale did make me cry a little and it was an almost prefect good ending. All in all summertime rendering is a fantastic anime for those who want to get into anime in general and one of the best time travel stories that anime has to offer.
