When I sat down to watch the 2022 Spanish comedy "Amor de Madre" (aka "Mother's Love"), I didn't know what to expect from writers Cristóbal Garrido and Adolfo Valor as I had never heard about the movie before sitting down to actually watch it. But I have to say that the movie's synopsis definitely sounded interesting enough. So of course I opted to give this movie a view.
And I will say that director Paco Caballero actually put together a wholesome and thoroughly entertaining movie. The storyline in the movie was well-written and had a good combination and mixture of comedy and proper narrative to it. So it actually made for a good viewing.
As I am not particularly well-traversed in the Spanish cinema, then I can't claim to be familiar with the cast ensemble here. But Carmen Machi (playing Mari Carmen) and Quim Gutiérrez (playing José Luis) were nicely cast for their roles and carried the movie quite well. They had good chemistry on the screen and put on very good performances.
If you enjoy light-hearted comedies with a proper story, then you should definitely give "Amor de Madre" a chance, provided you get to do so. I was genuinely entertained by this movie, and it is a feel-good type of movie.
My rating of "Amor de Madre" lands on a six out of ten stars.
