I wasn't quite sure I would watch Path to 9/11, but decided I would watch the first several minutes and decide from there. Well, I was riveted from the opening scenes and found I could not turn away from a very well done, incredibly compelling and terrifically cast docudrama. Props to the film's producers and Disney CEO Robert Iger for creating and airing this very moving, fascinating production. I hope ABC will air this movie again.
It is obvious that both the Clinton and Bush administrations missed cues and made missteps in the events leading up to the 9/11 attack. What I find perplexing is the reaction by Clinton and crew to the airing of Path to 9/11. Thou doth protest too much! My theory is that the team behind the Clinton "legacy" is less concerned about the dramatic liberties or inaccuracies in the film than the segments that are dead-on true. Are we to believe the Clinton administration is totally blameless and the Bush administration is totally at fault? Thus, I am stunned by the hypocrisy of the left. They applaud Fahrenheit 9/11 and award Michael Moore with an Oscar for BEST DOCUMENTARY. Those who fight so diligently for the First Amendment (and understandably so) only support those of a particular political persuasion, I'm afraid.
We should agree on one thing. Bureaucracy and partisan sniping is paralyzing the decision-makers, even when our freedom and very existence is at stake. Can we please focus on who the real enemy is? It is not Bush; it is not Clinton. It is a growing group of Islamic extremists who continue to find ways to commit mass murder against the free world. They include scientists and engineers skilled in bomb making. They do not value life; not their own, not their children's, not their fellow Muslims. They only know hate. When are we going to get it?
