Commentaire à la une
Jack Vincennes, better known as Francois Clousot, put his little heart into this Sin City feature, a simple but very effective examination of snobbery and self-destructive hedonistic behavior.
It opens with lovely second unit footage of California wine country (shot by Bud Lee without credit, while he served as production manager of Clousot), and then we are introduced to a small wine-tasting club, held at a French bistro named the French Quarter owned by Steven French. Steven St. Croix proudly claims he can classify women the way he grades his wines, literally matching each lady to a specific wine after "tasting" both, so to speak.
His friends mock this, but each of them tries out the scheme themselves. French gets to hump sultry Aria at his restaurant; a young Michelle Lay as the wise-cracking lady in the club gets to seduce busty Jordan Haze at her gym, and Eric Masterson selfishly has sex with St. Croix's latest flame, the movie's star (and Sin City contract girl) Britney Skye.
A fine plot twist has St. Croix, who we see at the beginning of the movie having sex with beautiful Lana Moore, before treating her quite callously afterward, getting stumped by Skye, unable to place her in his mechanistic universe of wine = women. His best buddy Masterson, turns the tables on him, identifying the wine that reminds one of Skye (after humping her) and giving St. Croix a swig of the liquid, but steadfastly refusing to identify it. His pal and our anti-hero has learned a big life lesson concerning mistreating women in this way.
Although Clousot is extremely cavalier about the whole movie in his facetious director's commentary track provided as a Bonus, he has done a fine job keeping the movie simple but quite effective. Also in the mix is the amazingly top-heavy Ava Devine, briefly amusing and arousing giving Masterson a blow job.
