I just caught this little short on HBO. Being a big Buffy fan, I was mostly interested in it because of Marc Blucas. I wanted to see if the man was perpetually Riley Finn, or if he was actually a decent actor. Turns out, a little of both.
I was also interested in the concept. Being an actor myself, who up until the point of this writing, has mostly done small short films, I was curious about how they would cover this material in this context. Turns out, they pretty much thought of everything. The puns and metaphors are aplenty, and for the most part, they worked for me. Some of them, obviously, were a bit corny, even for the already corny premise. However, the film's awareness of itself and how corny it was really helped it along quite well.
Marc and Aisha really did quite well, given the circumstances. The writing was fine, given the corniness that sort of had to be there. And the very end gave me a chuckle. All in all, I really enjoyed this short. I recommend it. And you know what? If you see it and loathe it, it was only fifteen minutes of your life.
