Gregory Dark is unquestionably one of porn's most overrated directors of all time, thanks to his hokey '80s exercises in style exemplified by New Wave Hookers. I enjoyed his more down to earth softcore erotic thrillers in the '90s starring greats like Shanon Whirry and Linda Carol, but "The Psychosexuals" made soon after suffers from his hyped-up visuals and editing in place of a real story. Worse yet, it's all blamed on lead protagonist Mickey G., imagining all these sex scenes while experiencing VIrtual Reality. And get a load of the VR headset he wears: it looks like a monster prop out of "The Fly".
Group sex dominates the endless XXX footage here, with some very talented porn performers like Chloe and Missy going gonzo. I watched the dubbed-into-German version, which lost little in translation given the lack of credible dialogue/story in the first place. One funny aspect: even the groaning and unintelligible porn speak is translated into German, so we hear otherwise stone-faced Mickey G. Grunting and making noises with a low, German-inflected voice!
