It stars the biggest actors at the time, the sixties, giving acceptable interpretations, packing adequate setting and enriched by enjoyable songs and dances . It is set in Northern Spain at a village from Zaragoza, Aragon. It concerns Maria del Pilar, Iran Eory, a young girl who is loved by two suitors, one of them, Jose Moreno, makes believe she's dishonest in a way hard to clear out and the another one , Vicente Parra, sacrifices himself for his lover. As her good sweetheart searches solution to save the honor of his girlfriend destroyed by a betrayed set-up.
Dramedy set in Zaragoza, Aragon, at the beginning of the 20th Century packing hilarious moments, emotion, gigs, popular songs, a complex love story and dramatic elements . It deals with an usual issue regarding woman's honor whose reputation is smeared by gossips and the twisted machinations carried out by a spoiled suitor. Nice performances by all concerned. The wonderful Iran Eory lights as the damsel in distress, she arranges to sing and dance a very credible and agreeble Aragonese Jota. The Aragonese Jota is the most Folkloric dance in Spain along with Flamenco in the Southern Spain, Andalucia. The gorgeous Eory, who died in Mexico at 60 years old, is finely accompanied by Vicente Parra as his boyfriend and Jose Moreno as the contender suitor. And a very good support cast such as Miguel Ligero as the sympathetic priest , Roberto Rey as the honorable uncle Eusebio , Alfredo Landa who provides the comical relief , Elena Maria Tejeiro, Julia Caba Alba as the pharmaceutic, Manuel Arbo, Luis Orduña and Mary Paz Pondal as the jealous innkeeper.
There are three versions of this story based on the play written by Joaquin Dicenta , the first silent 1925 by Juan Vilamele with Inocencia Alcubierre and Carlos Fernan Gomez. The second, classic and best rendition 1935 directed by Florian Rey with Amparo Rivelles, Manuel Ligero ,Manuel Luna, Juan Espantaleon and Juan Orduña himself, this latter configures itself as one of the most important fims of Spanish pre-war cinema. And third rendition 1965, this Nobleza Baturra with script written by Julio Coll, Manuel Tamayo and Juan de Orduña himself. The motion picture was professionally directed by Juan de Orduña and considered to be inferior to 1935 version. Orduña was a considerable actor and a craftsman filmmaker. He directed his first one in 1928 titled Una aventura de cine, and following : Porque te vi llorar 1941, El frente de los suspiros 1942 and A mi la Legion!. After that, directing all kinds of genres as dramas, comedies, and musical , such as Rosa de otoño, Ella el y sus millones, Yo me caso, Leyenda de feria, Mision blanca, Tuvo la culpa Adam, La Tirana. Going on with biopics, spectacular and blockbuster films in carton/stone as Agustina de Aragon, Serenata Española, La Leona de Castilla, Alba de America, Teresa de Jesus, being most of them produced by the powerful company Cifesa . And making notorious literary adaptations based on prestigious novels as Cañas y Barro written by Blasco Ibañez and Zalacain el aventurero by Pio Baroja. Subsequently, he made rendition upon known Zarzuelas as Bohemios, El huesped del Sevillano, La revoltosa. His greatest hit was El ultimo Cuple with Sara Montiel. And his last films were La tonta del bote with Lina Morgan and Me has hecho perder el juicio with Manolo Escobar.
