Anecdotes
In this MGM Technicolor short, two of the songs by composer Nacio Herb Brown and lyricist Arthur Freed - "Broadway Melody" and "You Are My Lucky Star" - were to appear again in Chantons sous la pluie (1952). Freed was the head of the musical unit at the studio, and his songs were used again and again in MGM pictures.

A Galaxy Of Screen Stars

A bunch of stars from a bunch of major studios descend on Palm Springs to celebrate the Lucky Stars Dance Contest and to show off three-strip Technicolor, with Edmund Lowe to lead the festivities.

It's a silly short produced by Louis Lewyn. He had started out in charge of Columbia's Screen Snapshots series, which did much the same as this short, and had moved on with the coming of sound. He was still doing the same sort of thing, showing the stars when they weren't making movies.... although he shows Robert Benchley drinking a glass of milk, which I think never happened in real life.
